From Rob Mann, BOCA UK Correspondent
Hot news from London is that Silvia graced the tarmac of Pall Mall on Sunday, 24 July, right opposite the venerable RAC Club.
In the opulent surroundings of the Club itself, a bunch of BOC folk had gathered to congratulate Paul and Sebastian, and celebrate their epic achievement with Silvia in the Peking-to-Paris Rally. Organised by President Geoffrey Herdman and Chairman Mark Alford, champagne flowed to begin with, followed by a hearty traditional roast beef lunch for the lads, thinking they might be a bit mal-nourished after the long journey and in need of some proper British sustenance. Who knows what they managed to eat in places like Ulaang Baatar or Nizhny Novgorod?!
The pictures are more or less self-explanatory, but I was quite intrigued by the “emergency kit” in the polished mahogany case with brass-bound corners and the “Bristol - 2-litre” medallion on the lid. Important to have a comprehensive inventory on board to cope with all occasions. The engine compartment was caked with a thick film of authentic Asian dust and hardly fresh from a Sunday afternoon cruise around the Boulevard but seems like it might have been in a better state than when the car was rescued from Dungog - she started and ran beautifully for the pleasure of the gathered audience.
Best regards
